The small quay was full and we anchored between a dozen boats 10 to 15 m apart. Once we were in a small bay on the island of Paxos. It is a deserted, large open bay, but almost windless! Fortunately, one of us is still on shore and can pull the front of the boat against the wind to the quay. So that's why there isn't a single boat on this side. However, the anchor cannot get a grip on the bottom. We sail to the other side of the pier, drop anchor and head against the wind with the back to the quay. Not easy with this wind! We start the engine and lift the anchor, but it gets caught behind the anchor line of a local boat.Īfter a lot of struggling we finally get the anchor on board. The wind is already going to 30 knots! We need to get out of here and lie down on the lee side of the pier. We pull the anchor up a bit, but a little later we are blown against the pier again. After a turbulent night we see that the wind has blown us closer to the pier. We are at anchor and with our backs against the pier. When we moored in Antikyra there was a strong westerly wind.
